Product Review: Curl Junkie Curl Queen and Curls in a Bottle

I love these two products. The products on their own are great but, together they are amazing. Curl Queen is a conditioning styling gel with a light to medium. Curls in a Bottle is a light hold styling serum that helps to tame fizz. They both defined my curls very well and I had no fizz. They have an amazing scent. After I applied my leave-in and oil, I just divided my hair into four sections. I applied the Curl Queen (2 quarter size) then, the Curls in a Bottle (2 quarter size) and applied dime size amount of oil. I finger rake each section to make sure the section was fully coated. Pricing for both was not bad, Curl Queen ($22) and Curls in a Bottle ($18) for 12 oz. Will I buy these products again? Yes. The ingredients list for both products are below.
Curls in a Bottle ingredients: Water, Hydroethylcellulose, Agave Nectar, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Matricaria Recuitita (Chamomile) Flower Water, PVP, Panthenol, PEG-8 Dimethicone*, Polyquaternium-10, PEG-8 Raspberriate**, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance. *Water soluble-rinses clean!, **Derived from Raspberry Oil.
Curl Queen ingredients: Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydroethylcellulose, Corn Starch Modified, Polyquaternium-4, Panthenol, PVP, Camellia Sinensis Leaf (Green Tea) Extract, Wheat Protein, Wheat Starch, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl

Product Review: Eco Styler Moroccan Argan Oil Styling Gel

This is a quick review. I love this styling gel. It provides me with a great hold and smells pretty good. The only problem with this gel is that you do not use a oil on top, it could leave your hair crunchy. I also had some shrinkage with it. Overall, this is a great product and with it only about $5-6 for 32 oz jar, it is a steal. The look in the picture was achieved by the eco styler and a denman brush.

Lace Wig Review: Sassy Secret- Serenity 22” Virgin Malaysian Hair

Here is another lace wig review. Serenity is a natural color 22” virgin Malaysian hair full lace with stretch panel in the middle. The lace color is medium brown.  The hair texture is a tightly curl pattern. It other words, gorgeous. The hair is so soft and beautiful. The parting is on point. The hair very natural looking. I have received so many compliments over this unit. Strangers actually thought it was my own hair. I had this wig since January and it is holding up strong. Again because this is a curly unit I do not bond down the back (still can wear in a low ponytail) nor straighten it. If you like  big, curly hair. Then, this unit is for you. There is three down size to Sassy Secret. 1. The knots were not bleached. I did a faux bleaching on the unit. 2. The price was pretty steep. Might want to wait for a sale. 3. Limited amount of the units come in a small cap size:( and you wait 5-7 business days before your unit ship. Most of the silky, virgin, and fine yaki texture come in small size. There is a small cap size section but it doesn’t list all of them. Will I buy from them? Yes. Maybe I would wait until there is a sale. Here is the link to the website: www.sassysecret.com

Product Review: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab

Okay, I am officially a product junkie. But, I could not pass up trying this product with all of the good reviews out there. Curl Rehab is a moisturizing hair treatment. It is gear towards dry/fizzy curls and coils. You can use it daily, weekly, or monthly. It is not too thick nor too thin. It have great slip and very moisturizing. i used it as a deep treatment and sat under a hooded dryer for an hour. I didn’t have to use a whole lot (1/4 of the jar). So, I can get at least 3 or 4 uses out of it.  The scent is amazing (strawberry ice cream, yummy). Here is the ingredients list: Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Leaf Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf Extract, Melissa Officinalis (Melissa) Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Yucca Leaf Extract, Rosa Mosqueta (Rosehip) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Theobroma Grandiflorum (CupuaƧu) Seed Butter, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Vanilla Planifolia oil, Cananga Odorata oil, Lecithin, Fragrance, Citric Acid. The ingredients are pretty impressive. It is not geared toward hair growth but it have some of the ingredients that are known to promote/aid growth (horsetail, nettle, peppermint, and yucca). Price is okay, 8 oz for $20. But, it is totally worth it. Now, they have the 32 oz pump bottle for $65 on curl junkie website. Guess what I am ordering next week ;)

Product Review: Shea Moisture Organic Anti-Breakage Hair Masque Yucca and Baobab

This product geared towards thickens, volumes, and softens hair. It also was supposed to prevent hair loss. I have used this product twice now and must say that I don’t really care for it. Don’t get me wrong it have good ingredients. Here is the list: Deionized Water , Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) , Cocos Nucifera Oil (Coconut) , Mangifera Indica Seed Butter (Mango) , Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado) , Olea Europaea Oil (Olive) , Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract , Ammonium Salt (Conditioner) , Yucca Filamentosa Extract , Vegetable Protein , Adansonia Digitata Extract (Baobab) , Biotin , Panthenol (Vitamin B-5) , Rosemary Extract , Bamboo Extract , Sorbitol Esters , Caprylyl Glycol , Essential Oil Blend , Lonicera Caprifolium Flower and Lonicera Japonica Flower Extract (Honeysuckle and Japanese Honeysuckle) , Tocopherol (Vitamin E). The problem lied in that it doesn’t provide a lot of slip. The product was too thick and didn’t feel good going on my hair. I don’t know if it was because I have fine 4a hair. The scent was okay. It reminded me of lotion. It moisturized my hair okay, not as well as some of the other products out there. I don’t if it left my hair feeling stronger or prevent breakage. Would I buy this again? No. I don’t think this is a bad product (hey, it was only $10) and it could work for some of you but not for me.

Lace wig Review: For Girls Like Us

I have been a lover of lace wigs for about 2 years. They helped me transition from relax to natural and loved the fact I can switch up hairstyles in less than an hour.  For the lovers of lace wigs, here is a review. This full lace wig is a 16"-18" Burmese Afro Curly Remy in a natural color (medium density, ~120%). I got a small cap size with medium brown swiss lace and stretch in the middle. It is currently price at $300. The shipping was super fast, which I loved (hate waiting for things). It came nicely packet with lots of goodies (toothbrushes to clean your lace, tape, shower cap, ponytail holders, hair clips, mirror, and so on). The hair was so soft and bounce back wash after wash (got her in May). The hairline had all the natural dips and curves but, was a little thick. So, I thinned out the hairline a little to make it more realistic. I had very little shedding. The wig wouldn't straighten completely when I tried to straighten it. But I kinda expect it because of texture. I did bleached the knots myself and put some highlights in it. I also got my cousin to cut it into a cute bob and I sewed in some wig clips in the back (didn't feel like doing the full bonding because I don't wear curly unit in a ponytail most of the time). I got so many comments while wearing this unit. I give this unit an 8 out of 10. Maybe if I order another one, I would get it custom and have it in a lighter density. Here is a link to the unit: http://www.forgirlslikeus.com/burmese-afro-kinky-curl.html Tell me what you think or what your experience with lace wigs.

Product Review: Miss Jessie's Quick Curls

Quick Curls is a curling creme with a light hold. I must say not a bad product. It wasn't too thick nor too thin. It have a light citrus scent that I love. My hair was still soft afterwards and it defined my curls without a lot of frizz. Also, love that it has a lot of extracts (grape seed, nettle, fennel fruit, apricot kernel, etc). It does have a few cones but major of them is near the bottom of the ingredients list with the exception of cyclopentasiloxane (a not so bad cone, it is a water-thin cone). It also have some protein but again at the bottom half of the list. I wouldn't suggest using this product everyday. Maybe, when my hair is long enough to do pineapples for 2nd and 3rd day hair, it would be good addition to my routine. Like other Miss Jessie's products not the biggest bang for your buck ($32 for 8 oz). If you have tried this product leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Product Review: Miss Jessie's Super Sweetback Treatment

I am 1 month post BC. I decided to try a deep treatment by Miss Jessie's. It is a weekly essential deep treatment for growing out naturally curly, kinky, and wavy hair. It have a cherry taffy scent that faded away as my hair dried. It was very thick with a great slip and my hair detangled very easily.  It did leave my hair feeling soft. It does have Liposome (Centella Asiatica) which stimulates hair growth but it is 7th from the bottom of the ingredients list. I don't know if it will have any affect on my hair growth. It also have four cones. This is not for you if you don't like cones. I think it is a good deep treatment overall with a downside of price. $48 for 16 oz, you don't get a bang for your buck.  I think that it is a little over price for the ingredients, which are okay. If you have tried this product leave a comment and let me know what you think.
